THE ˝F˝ WORD

One of the most important things to reconsider when it comes to longboards is definitely FLEX. Choosing the right flex can be a great help when surfing on the concrete. Some like it flexy, others prefer small amount of flex and some like their longboards stiff. ( Just to let you know, we make 'em all. :)
Our Neon Rabbit decks are carefully crafted from layers of fine Slovenian birch wood, which gives strong but flexible product. We took our time to understand all properties of birch wood, birch plywood and off course what awesome benefits occur when combined with fiberglass. :) We succeeded to recreate bamboo properties like flexibility and enhance woods characteristics to make our decks stronger so they last longer. In the end our decks are flexy and lightweight but also extremely strong, which enables controllable yet flexible ride. With different combinations of fiberglass thickness and different cuts of plywood we can make everything from soft and flexy to really rock stiff boards.
So what does one gain with flexier deck? The more flex a board has the softer the ride as it will absorb impacts and rough terrain better. This type of shock absorption will generally help you to relieve some of the stress on your ankles and knees. It will also allow you to ride a bit lower to the ground which adjusts your center of gravity making it easier to balance as well as push.
Keep in mind: amount of flex is a personal preference. Stiffer boards are generally easier to control and  they provide more stability. More about that next time...although just reading about it won't do the trick. GO out there and try what suits you.

Guys that came to us for their new custom made decks certainly new what they wanted. Flex with a capital F! So we made them! :) Flexible deck with drop-through, slightly uplifted nose and kicktail for those awesome tricks and quick turns. Deck is also concave for good foot locking so you don't slide on your ride ;)
